Rantings of a Broke Black Woman
I need more money. Newflash right? I'm in the same situation as millions of other people who feel like they aren't making enough money. But seriously, if I ever want to move out of my parents' house, I need more income. I make okay money, but it goes pretty quickly. I usually have a decent amount left over after my bills are paid, but not enough for me to move out on my own and live without struggling.
So I decided I'm going to look for a second job. Sometimes I feel like, damn, I'm exhausted from working one job, how the hell am I going to swing two? At the same time the thought of an additional income is pretty motivating. I figure I can do something a few evenings out of the week and one weekend day. Around 15-20 hours a week. Maybe retail or restaurant hostessing or something like that.
I wish I had enough balls to strip. Strippers make GOOD money. If only I didn't have any integrity. I would get my ass up on stage in 6 inch heels and a g-string and make it clap. *Sigh*

Ain't nothing wrong with a side hustle, I know I have my share. From selling toys to personal training to event planning...find something that you really enjoy doing and then get your side hustle on.... :)
I can totally relate to this post. It’s like when can I ever feel like I’m getting ahead?
It’s not about me wanting a flashy lifestyle. At this point making it would be: not worrying about my bills being paid on time, not paying NSF fees, and being able to entertain myself whenever I please.
Yeah, stripping seems appealing at times. I even thought about being a hooter girl. But I try to remind myself that all money isn’t good money. Can I really see myself working in a smoke fill nightclub degrading myself to get a few extra dollars? And if you think its hard now to meet a decent guy, try explaining your side hustle to a good man. Or better yet explaining your new job to your parents/family. There are a million other jobs out there to do besides taking off our clothes or wearing short ass orange shorts…
I call this our humbling years, it will get better…
@ Anonymous-I like your advice about doing something you like as your side hustle. At least the extra time spent working would be toward something worthwhile and enjoyable.
@ Woman on the Move-a sista is just trying to be comfortable! Not trying to be all fly and flashy (well, maybe on a small scale, lol.) But seriously, the stripping thing seems appealing sometimes but I know I couldn't do it. You're right, these are the humbling years, one day we'll look back on them and laugh :-/.
LOL @ Stippers make a lot of money.
That they do. So do porn stars. I think.
Side hustles are good and will benefit you in the long run. Go for it and soon you'll have the $ to move on and move out.
Stripping? Nah, don't go there. I echo the words of Woman On The Move on the disadvantages. Isn't it a shame that all the ways to make quick or a lot of money in a short time always equates to something negative. (smh)
@ Mistress-It seems that all the hoochie professions are lucrative huh? Lol.
@ blujewel-I don't have enough balls to get out there in a g-string and slide down somebody's pole. All money ain't good money, like my mom would say.
I need a second job too. I've been looking forever for one.
Not all strippers make big bucks.
@ brilld-I'd prefer to keep the stripping thing in the bedroom, know what I mean... and yes, everyone could use a little extra $$.
